Sudo Puppy

Being a single puppy we have had to be creative on how to get Peyton not to realize she is an only and not "special". I discovered at Target of all places what is a called a puppy buddy. It is a stuffed puppy with buckwheat in it that you heat up and the puppy can cuddle up to it. This is great, we have also been using it to push Peyton off the nipple, she can't always be first in line, she has to learn to share. I think it is working. It is a lot of work for Doug and I, but it is worth it. Here are a few pictures of her "littermates"

Sunday - Day Three

Sunday is a day of napping and hanging out, that includes the Peyton and Hula. Peyton is very active and scoots around with record speed. Hula continues to be a great mom and is very attentive.

Peyton is gaining between 1 to 2 ounces a day. Seems all she does is eat eat eat oh and poop!

Day two coming to a close

Well day two is coming to close and it pretty much was uneventful. The puppy is zooming around the whelping box and Hula is in and out of it like an old pro. Fun to watch. Peyton HATES to be on her back (we will be working on this). But I got a cute picture that makes her look like a baby polar bear.

Octopus

Well having a singleton is fun, ok so it has only been a little over twelve hours. To help Peyton along she has the best assitant puppy raiser ever. The Octopus... This is the best and she slithered right up to it.

Welcome to the world

Welcome to the world Peyton. Yep you read that right. Hula delivered on her own this morning at 1:40 a.m. No notice no nothing, I heard a yelp, which woke me out of a sound sleep jumped off the couch and low and behold saw the puppy. Hula was scared but I grabbed the puppy and Hula followed me to the whelping box. Hula got busy as the puppy was SCREAMING.

Mommie and baby are doing fine. Peyton weighs in at a whopping 1 lb 2 0z. She is a doll. Hula is a natural. I am a wreck and need a drink....

Sugar n Spice and Everything Nice. That's what little girls are made of...... Let the party begin

The Buffet Is Open

The buffet is open, Hula's milk came in this afternoon. The puppy has an ample supply (so we hope). We are not at 11.5 hours and counting. Again asking everyone for positve thoughts tomorrow morning.

By the way, I know the puppy's name. We will announce the name as soon as we know if it is male or female...

Counting the Days

The days are numbered now. The day after tomorrow is the big day. I know I am nervous. I am getting up every couple of hours at night to check on Hula. She is such a sweet one. Well keep checking the blog. Hopefully good news on Friday.. Say lots of prayers and think of Hula on Friday morning. Here is a picture of Hula and a couple of her litter mates. Maybe monster baby will look like this. Probably not this little though.

The Nursery

Since we are two weeks away from puppy time we thought is was time to set up the nursery. Ok it is just a whelping box. We also have all the supplies we "might" need. Paper towels, scissors, thermometer, baby scale, garbage bag, regular towels, and lets not forget the coveted Octopus.... tick tick tick, time is ticking away (slowly)

Two weeks and counting

Two weeks and counting. That is all we have left and I have a feeling it is going to come FAST. Hula is doing great, slowing down a tad, but not much. She definately has a little bit of a baby bump. She even sits like a pregnant mamma at times. She has lost her girlish figure for sure. Take a look
