The girls meet their raisers

All of the girls are going to be raised by new Raisers. They all got the opportunity to come and visit. I know which puppy they are getting now, but will save that for tomorrow. (post two for today)

Time flies by

Oh by where did seven weeks go. This last week I stepped out from behind the computer and the camera just to enjoy the puppies. Today is our last day with the furry monsters. I will be posting several times today. the first post. We took the journey up to Pentwater to lay Gene to rest at Lake Michigan. As we didn't know how long we would be gone, the entire gang came along with us. Though they didn't get to the sand (75 steps plus about 60 lbs of puppy makes is NO way). We did take some pictures of us on the overlook. And one of Kari who has graciously let us be there with Gene and group of puppies. She was the puppy sitter while we were on the beach. I think Kari enjoyed it.

Oh the eyes

OH boy do those eyes just get ya! Better watch out one look at these and you will be hooked. The days with the puppies are coming to a quick end and I am so going to miss them. We are spending as much time as we can with them (hence why we haven't posted much in the last couple of day). Oh the eyes!

Mr White

He kinda walks around in a little fog. Just happy to be (just like his daddy). Very sweet and loving, he is our big boy. The boys have gone over the 12lb pound mark and the girls are knocking on 12 lbs themselves. Mr White is a mover and shaker, especially when he is thundering across the floor.

Mr Yellow

Time to meet the boys, Mr Yellow is first up. Boy what a chunk. He is just likehis daddy, not all that bright but enjoys life and has fun. He is a thinks things through and then goes forward. He thunders through the house as he runs. Big hooty booty butt!

PS: I know what his name is but will reveal that at a later date. Want to keep it a surprise.

Miss Blue

Miss Blue is my lone wolf. She doesn't always play with the others because she does. But she has the tendency to play by herself sleep in a corner by herself and well the others tend to gang up on her a tad, but don't worry she can hold her own. The best part of Miss Blue is that she is the BEST snuggler EVER. She loves to sit on your lap and just stare up at you. We love Miss Blue.

Miss Green's turn

Miss Green ( I will admit) gravitates a tad towards me than the others. When talking about it last night, Doug said to me that he knew why she did. He thinks it is because she looks like Peyton (Hula's first puppy). I took a really close look and yep he was right. She is just like Peyton. Peyton and I have a really strong bond (still do). Miss Green is very smart and is into being loved and hugged, but has no problems with rolling on the floor with the boys.

Miss Red

Miss Red is the first up and the last to go to sleep, she comes when she hears puppy puppy puppy. She gives you this look that melts your heart but watch out she always is stirring up something. Right now she is the leader of the pack.

She is Doug's favorite, why you ask, because when he walks in the room she snaps to attention and comes running. He is her hero I think. Doug thinks she is the smartest thing on earth.

Lip smacking GOOD!

No more words necessary.!

Leader of the pack

It has been a ton of fun watching the puppies take turn being the first to do something. Just as I think I have it figured out who is the "lead" they change their mind and another one becomes lead dog. Today the boys are the first to do the stairs. So it was just one stair. Their effort was there. Good boys!

Real food

Inlight of all that went on this last week, life does go on. We have had to pull ourselves together and concentrate on the puppies. On Tuesday the puppies were introduced to their gruel and the beautiful outside. boy oh boy did they LOVE it. Yes gang I finally had a puppy that stepped in its food. Though they do not get terribly dirty they do step in it!

A tribute to Gene

This week as not been the best week for Doug and I. We had to make the hardest decision in anyone's life. Our oldest Golden "Gene" was a retired service dog that we adopted when he was five. He was returned from his client as they could no longer take care of him. "Gene" walked into our lives a big woolly bear and remained that big woolly bear to us for 6 years. Gene continued to work for PAWS by doing educational programs for the general public. His favorite was the senior citizens homes as he got to wander and they all just swooned over him. He also was the resident puppy trainer. Whenever we had a foster puppy that needed to learn a "dog lesson" they came home with us and well Gene worked his magic. He worked hard and played hard. We loved him with all of our hearts. Tuesday was a very sad day and an end to an icon for PAWS. Gene was let go to take his walk over the rainbow bridge. He was ridden with cancer and there was nothing we could do for him but let him have some peace. He will be returned to Doug and I and we plan to scatter his ashes at his favorite place in the entire world. Lake Michigan. A lovely cottage that another raiser has graciously shared with many of us. He would have moved in if we would have let him.

So forgive me for taking a blog entry to honor his memory. He was our soul. We miss him deeply.

Move over

Each day the puppies get bigger and bigger. UNREAL. I really noticed today that they are doing alot of bumping and pushing to get the prime pump at the milk truck. Check out how big they are. They are four weeks old today and ALL of them weigh over 6 lbs!

Visitors

The puppies had some visitors today, not only did a puppy raiser and her family show up (they will be getting one of the boys). But the furnance people (we had a new furnance installed today) had to stop by the whelping box for a look see( I could shoot myself for not snapping a picture of it). What day. Needless to say they were a tad tired tonight.

New pillow

It is in the shape and size of HULA! Miss Red made herself comfy on top of her mom. Doesn't get any better than this.

Love for mom

The puppies sure do love their mommy. Just a couple of pictures that capture that moment. They are so sweet. All I want to do is sit around and squeeze them..

Brrrrrrrrrrrrr It's Cold Out There

So lets have a puppy pile. With the weather turn (and our furnance being replaced on Monday) we are all hunkering down to stay warm. They snuggle with each other and with the stuffed animals that are in the whelping box. We like to snuggle with them too. warm and fuzzy definately makes the blood pressure drop.

All about mom

Hula has just been incredible through this entire process of being a mom. She is gentle and loving, very nurturing but can correct her puppies in a heart beat. She is an amazing dog. We just adore her, we can't imagine our lives without her.
