Old Friends

Today was another day of visitors and we couldn't be more pleased. "Rosie"s from Hula's MASH litter's people came over for a visit. It was fun to watch the girls hold the puppies like babydolls. What a nice family. Then this evening "Naya" from Hula's third litter raisers came over for a look see. They walked into a little bit of a poopy mess, but we got it all cleaned up and things were fine. At least we know puppies bounce! One of the puppies is shouting out "Come Back Now Ye Hear!"

Tickle me BLUE

OMG!!! What a funny puppy. Tonight Mr. Blue was getting his turn of tummy time. What I saw from my end was a puppy being tickled and he was just a chuckling (that is important for a later time). Thankfully I had my camera close by (but when don't I). Caught it. What a funny puppy.

Not Enough Puppies

To go around. We had 10 visitors today and only 8 puppies. I guess Hula and Trapper had to fill the gaps, which for Hula was no problem because her favorite person in the whole world was here. I truly lifted her spirits (and she needed it, she went to the vet today for not being herself, she had no go in her giddy up, she will be fine but her visit sure helped).

After the visit today the puppies were pretty quiet until IT happened, oh gross, the major runs, I am assuming from the meds that Hula was put on, there was poop from one end of the box to other INCLUDING all over the puppies AND ME! Yuck, puppy poop is GROSS!

Surreal

Every once in awhile I catch myself pondering the future of these tiny puppies and really thinking how quickly they become "PAWS" Dogs. Yes I know that they were breed and are being raised from the get go for PAWS but when you sit down and think about what happens from the very first breath these puppies take to the time they are placed with their clients, just totally amazes me.

Just the growth and development of the first seven weeks that I have them is very surreal. Born unable to see and hear no idea what legs and feet are to in just a short two years to being someone's arms, legs etc just blows my mind. I am very proud to be a part of the process. Couldn't imagine not being a part of it.

NOW with all that heavy stuff out of the way. These puppies just crack me up. Is it live or a stuff toy. They have a way positioning themselves where it almost looks uncomfortable. GOTTA love these little ones. SO MUCH FUN!

Puppy Addiction

Yes Ellen there is something a "Puppy Addiction" and you have it!!!!!!!!!!. The puppies had their first official visitors today. Bob, Ellen and their daughter Jeni came to visit. Bob and Ellen are veteran raisers for PAWS but will be taking the plunge and going golden (Once you go golden you will never go back). Jeni teaches school abroad and has watched the web cam with her class. So glad that you all could come.

We did have to do a pat down prior to the visitors leaving (had to make sure we had all 8) seems
The puppies crashed after the visit. Can't thank you enough for coming by. Looking forward to seeing you again!

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas everyone. Hula and her 8 tiny reindeer plan to have a joyous day at home. We hope you all have a great one!

The Stockings Were Hung

By the whelping box with care in hopes that Santa Clause Soon would be here. If not Santa just the milk truck, which seems to pull in every hour or so.

The puppies have had a very quiet low key day, just the types of days we like. We are starting to see a pattern with the puppies. They are more of night owls instead of being morning puppies. We have time to change that....

Feeding Frenzy

Ok so I have blogged a bunch about the puppies and how they eat. I just had to show you all what a frenzy it is when Hula just gets into the whelping box. There are times all she has to do is walk by the box and Misss White sets up a fuss. They kids definately appreciate their food and want it all the time. The little piglets!

Comfy Cozy

The puppies are truly cruizin around the whelping at top speed for 2 week old puppies. When they crash they crash. I caught the comfy cozy moment with Miss White and Hula. Hula makes a great pillow. She is looks like a angel sleeping all snuggled up to her mom (guess what she is T R O U B L E. She is loud and in charge

Bottoms Up!

It can be quite the frenzy when the puppies are all fighting for the best nipple. I think this puppy got turned around or should I say upside down. Bottoms Up! (whatever works).

Battle Buddy

Today was a busy day for the puppies. Usually I don't allow visitors this eary but it is the holiday's and I hosted my families get together. So the puppies had their first visitors. One of which is (one ) of my nephews who is home on leave from the Army. He was very smitten with Miss Red and found at that she fits very nicely in his camo pants. What a battle buddy she will make!

Golden moments

Moments like these take my breath away. The puppies just have a tendency to gather and HUG! Maybe we should all hug a little more. I could spend all day watching these little ones. Golden moments are precious and delicate. Moments like these make the ugliness of the world disappear if only for a brief second.

A Mother's "Nose"

Hula "knows" it all when it comes to her babies. At least she thinks she does. She was nose to nose with her litter orange girl. I guess any old place will do to sleep with Miss Orange. She slid right down her moms neck and well just hung out...

Who we are

Time to introduce the pupppies to the world. All the puppies have their own personalities and their own way of doing things. Right now they are known as a color and in general the color would have meant birth order bue when a c-section is done it happens so fast there is no idea of what order they are in. I went with Black and Blue for the boys, and white red green yellow purple and orange are the girls.

A Mother's Work Is Never Done!

I have been watching and trying to learn the puppies routine . At this point there isn't much of a routine yet, it seems all the do is EAT, non-stop. One puppy or another is always belly up to the buffet. I had a chance today to snap a quick photo of the puppies all lined up in a row. Hula was out to the world and snoring very loudly. A mothers work is never done. Hula's has just begun!

Teeny Tiny

I think at times it is hard for people to realize how teeny tiny these puppies are. So while holding our littlest puppy (Mr Black) I took a good look at how tiny he is. His paw is smaller than my thumb and he can curl up in just one of my hands. Tiny tiny (he is struggling a little to gain some weight so we are helping out just a tad, he is a fighter!)

13 days before Christmas and all through the house

Not a creature was stiring not even Hula and the puppies. It is a snuggle-fest around here. The puppies stockings are hung by the whelping box with care in hopes that Santa PAWS will soon be here. It just doesn't get any better than this. Life is really good.

Four Peas in a Pod

We have all heard of two peas in a pod, well since Hula doesn't do anything small we have FOUR peas in a pod. These four golden nuggets decided the best place to rest was right on Mom. What is better than that. It is a pattern with this litter of puppies. They ALL love touching and being next to mom.

Love and Joy

Today was a day of getting into a routine, finding the best spots in the whelping box and for all the love and joy in the world to be present in this one tiny place in the world. Hula again is a wonderful mother and never misses a tender moment with her babies.

Oh Holy Night

And what a night it was. Unfortunately Hula needed help delivering her 8 tiny reindeer. Hula (via c-section) delivered 8 puppies all weighing in over a pound each (ok so not so tiny reindeer). We have 6 lovely little girls and 2 robust boys. Ho-Ho-Ho. Christmas came early. Thanks Santa, it is the best present ever.

8 Tiny Reindeers, a house full of elves., a bunch of Wisemen

Who knows?? I have a round about number but we will wait to announce when the puppies hit the ground. Hula is doing great and is as big as a house. Please keep her in your thoughts as she gets ready to bring JOY TO THE WORLD. (I found Hula under the tree, I think she is hoping Santa comes fast)

Kennel Life

After a very poopy night on Sunday, many baths and cleaning out of the crates (heat does not agree with the puppies at all) the puppies are tucked in and happy as larks at the kennel. They are anxiously awaiting the 1 p.m. pick on Tuesday of their foster raisers. Again we had a ball with them and are looking forward to hearing and seeing the puppies grow.

Hula has been a little on edge watching me put all the baby toys and play equipment away. She keeps looking and then just sits and watches. I remember her doing this the last time. Hula is very happy and is enjoying being single again. She is such a doll!
